Hands For God Ministry

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms... If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ."     1 Peter 4:10-11

In late August 2009, I was out running and I heard a message.  “You must travel and help my children across the world with the blessings I have given you.”  It was over 24 hours before I told my wife, Julie, about my plan to form a ministry that went to villages and orphanages to restore children’s teeth.  Julie asked me, “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”  I replied, “ I’ve been trying to figure who told me to go.”  We both knew it was God.

With the help of two Christian brothers, Lance Fox, attorney, and Gary Rothenberger, CPA, we formed the Southeast Texas Hands For God Ministry, Inc., a non-profit and 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation.  My fellow board members are Julie Coleman, Lance Fox, Terry Bourdier, Steve Lucas and Wineva Hankamer.  The mission statement reads “To bring dental care, medical care and the Word to the children of God and to provide those who wish to serve God, the opportunity to travel to those in need.”

This is my true calling.  I have been give a gift, hands that can serve, and I must go and serve.

We plan to take at least one mission trip per year, as I continue to serve on the Beaumont City Council.  When my time is over serving Beaumont, we will increase the number of trips.  I am blessed to have been invited by different denominations to travel with their teams across the world and I look forward to these trips.

As I talked about my calling, I discovered others who have dreamed of traveling to provide health services to those in need.  Our ministry can fulfill their dream to serve.

We just received our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, and we are asking for donations to fund our ministry.  Dental equipment and dental supplies will be needed.  We hope to be able to provide grants to individuals who wish to serve and need financial assistance to travel.  If you want to help us serve God's children, please send your donation to:

UPDATE (July 2010):

The Hands For God Ministry has been invited by the Carroll County Haiti Mission Project (Mt. Carroll, Illinois) to travel to Haiti to treat victims of the earthquake.  This October, I will be performing dentistry, while Julie prepares bags of food and works on their construction crew.  We will travel to Port au Prince to distribute food and clothing.  We are excited about this opportunity that God provided for us to serve.
